Referrals are accepted from:

Parent Consult
$150 for an hour session.
This would suit parents who are unsure about what the next step might be for their child.
This session typically might include reviewing information previously received (e.g. from school, external agencies etc.) and gathering background information. Additional strategies or general advice might also be given.
Would also suit parents looking for strategies to support their child experiencing difficulties with behaviour (e.g. emotional regulation) and social or emotional issues (e.g. anxiety).
Psycho-Educational Assessment
This covers a range of services:
Cognitive Assessment (IQ)
$800
This includes a full cognitive assessment (e.g. WISC-V, WPPSI-IV, UNIT-2 or WAIS-IV), written report and feedback meeting.
This is suitable for parents looking to determine the intellectual capacity of their child.
Intellectual Disability Assessment or ADHD Assessment
Intellectual Disability Assessment – $1000
This entails a cognitive assessment and adaptive behaviour assessment. Includes a full written report and feedback meeting.
ADHD Assessment – $1200
This entails a cognitive assessment, Conners 4 questionnaire, BASC-3 questionnaire and Young DIVA-5 structured interview.
On some occasions, a cognitive assessment will already have been completed previously and may not need to be completed again. An ADHD assessment without the cognitive assessment costs $500.
Please note that Black Swan Psychology does not make a diagnosis of ADHD. The completed report can be taken to a Paediatrician to assist them in making the diagnosis.
Specific Learning Disorder Assessment (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia or Dyscalculia)
$1800
This option entails a full cognitive assessment, comprehensive academic assessment and phonological processing assessment. Includes a full written report and feedback meeting.
ADHD + Specific Learning Disorder Assessment
$2200
This option is suitable for parents who wish to determine whether their child might have ADHD and a Specific Learning Disorder (e.g. Dyslexia) and combines the assessment items required for an ADHD and Specific Learning Disorder assessment.
Please note that Black Swan Psychology does not make a diagnosis of ADHD. The completed report can be taken to a Paediatrician to assist them in making this diagnosis.
Counselling
$200 per session.
This option is suitable for children who are experiencing some type of social or emotional issues e.g. Anxiety. Counselling sessions will often utilise some form of therapeutic intervention e.g. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to assist the child with their difficulties.
Black Swan Psychology is a registered Medicare health provider which means that counselling sessions are able to attract a rebate. A Medicare rebate can be given for children who are referred by a GP under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. The current rebate is $96.65 for a session of at least 50 minutes.
A Mental Health Treatment Plan can provide access for up to 10 rebatable sessions per calendar year. GP reviews are required after the 6th sessions. Black Swan Psychology will provide feedback to your GP after the 6th session and/or at the end of treatment. If a Mental Health Treatment Plan has already been written, your GP will need to write a referral letter to Black Swan Psychology outlining the number of sessions remaining.
